Alex Davies leads Warwickshire Bears to win first game of the season

Alex Davies led the Warwickshire Bears to their first victory of the 2025 Vitality Blast season with a commanding 65-run innings, securing a six-wicket win over Yorkshire at Edgbaston. Chasing a target of 165, Davies and opening partner Tom Latham (44) established a solid foundation with a 103-run partnership. Despite a brief middle-order wobble induced by Yorkshire's Matt Milnes, who claimed 3 for 23, the Bears comfortably reached 168 for 4 with six balls to spare. Earlier, Yorkshire posted 164 for 7, anchored by Dawid Malan's unbeaten 69. However, a dramatic collapse saw them lose five wickets for just seven runs, shifting momentum in Warwickshire's favor. Spinners Danny Briggs, Jake Lintott, and Moeen Ali each took two wickets, effectively stalling Yorkshire's innings. This win not only marks Warwickshire's first in the tournament but also ends their early-season losing streak, providing a significant morale boost as they progress in the competition.
