Aminul Islam elected new BCB president


Former Bangladesh cricket captain Aminul Islam, widely known as "Bulbul," has been elected as the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). His appointment was confirmed during a board meeting held on Friday, 30 May 2025, in Dhaka . Aminul Islam becomes the 16th president of the BCB, succeeding Faruque Ahmed, who served a nine-month tenure before being removed following a no-confidence motion by several board directors . Notably, Aminul was elected unopposed, similar to his predecessors . Aminul Islam holds a significant place in Bangladesh's cricket history. He captained the national team and scored Bangladesh's first-ever Test century during their debut Test match against India in 2000 . Following his playing career, he contributed to cricket development as an ICC development officer, working across various countries, including China, Hong Kong, the UAE, Singapore, Thailand, and Myanmar . In the same board meeting, Nazmul Abedin Fahim and Fahim Sinha were appointed as vice presidents of the BCB . Aminul Islam's leadership is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective to the BCB, leveraging his extensive experience both on and off the field.
