Asa Tribe, Calvin Harrison power England Lions to comprehensive win against Pakistan Shaheens

In Abu Dhabi, the England Lions defeated the Pakistan Shaheens by a total of nine wickets to begin their 50-over series. Spin duo Calvin Harrison (3 for 37) and James Coles (2 for 25) claimed half the wickets to bowl Pakistan Shaheens out for 152. Asa Tribe scored an unbeaten half-century as the Lions reached their victory target with 25.4 overs remaining. After winning the T20 series 3-0, Victory maintains the Lions' perfect tour record. When Northamptonshire wrist spinner Harrison took two wickets in the 29th over, Pakistan Shaheens lost their last six wickets for 32 runs. Ben McKinney made a sharp one-handed catch at slip off left-hander Saad Baig after Abdul Samad top-edged a sweep that Coles held onto at midwicket. All six Lions bowlers claimed a wicket before Coles claimed last man Ahmed Daniyal plumb in front. After that, Tribe and McKinney got to work quickly, scoring 77 runs for the first wicket. Before being stumped by a ball that kept low, McKinney hit 42 out of 41 balls with a couple of towering sixes. With an unbroken 87-run partnership, Tribe and James Rew ended the chase. Tribe, a Glamorgan batter, was unbeaten on 52 out of 64 balls, and Rew was 48 not out for 41 balls. On Sunday, Abu Dhabi will host the second of the five matches in the series.
