Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has been appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to lead a 14-day specialized fast-bowling training program, set to commence on June 2, 2025. The initiative aims to elevate the standards of Sri Lanka's fast bowlers across various levels, including junior and senior squads .
Program Overview
Arun's comprehensive coaching stint will encompass:
Strategy Sessions: Conducting separate sessions for the men's red-ball and white-ball teams.
Technical Training: Providing skill-based training for fast bowlers.

Strategic Context
This initiative is part of SLC's ongoing strategy to bolster its cricketing infrastructure by leveraging international expertise. Previously, former India fielding coach R Sridhar conducted a ten-day fielding program, and Zubin Bharucha, Rajasthan Royals' Director of High Performance, led a batting coaching program in Sri Lanka .
Arun's appointment coincides with a relatively quiet period for Sri Lanka's men's team, which has only two Tests scheduled until next May and did not qualify for this year's Champions Trophy .
His extensive experience, including his tenure as India's bowling coach from 2014 to 2021 and his recent role with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, is expected to provide valuable insights and training to Sri Lanka's fast bowlers.
