Cricket West Indies allow their players to feature in remainder of IPL 2025

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has officially allowed its players to participate in the remainder of the IPL 2025 season, including the playoffs. This decision comes despite the upcoming international commitments, such as the ODI series against Ireland starting on May 21 and the England tour later in the summer.
This move is a significant boost for several IPL franchises, particularly Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who rely on key West Indian players. Notable West Indies cricketers set to continue in the IPL include:
Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Rovman Powell (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Nicholas Pooran and Shamar Joseph (Lucknow Super Giants)
Romario Shepherd (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)
Sherfane Rutherford (Gujarat Titans)
Shimron Hetmyer (Rajasthan Royals)
While some of these players, like Shepherd, Rutherford, and Joseph, were initially named in the squads for the Ireland series, CWI has permitted them to fulfill their IPL commitments. Replacements have been named for those missing the Ireland leg, ensuring that the West Indies national team remains adequately staffed.
This decision underscores CWI's flexible approach, balancing the importance of international fixtures with the players' participation in high-profile leagues like the IPL. It also reflects the board's recognition of the value and exposure that such tournaments provide to their players.
