Gurnoor Brar warned for breaching ICC's Code of Conduct
India fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has been warned and handed one demerit point for breaching ICC's Code of Conduct during the first ODI between England and India in Edgbaston.
By "throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate and or dangerous manner during an international match," Brar violated Article 2.9.
"The incident occurred in the eighth over of England's innings, when Brar picked up the ball while fielding and threw it towards the batter in an inappropriate and dangerous manner," the ICC pointed out.
7.5 Gurnoor Brar to Ben Duckett, no run, fuller length delivery outside off - Duckett leans across and inside halves the drive back at the bowler - Gurnoor collects the ball and then throws it back at the batter, missing Duckett by a whisker
The charge was made by Kumar Dharmasena and Mike Burns, the on-field umpires, Sam Nogajski, the third umpire, and Russell Warren, the fourth official. There was no need for a formal hearing because Brar admitted the offense and accepted the punishment that match referee Richie Richardson proposed.
