Lanning joins Australia Under-19 set-up as development coach
Meg Lanning, a former captain of Australia, has joined the coaching staff of Australia for the upcoming Under-19 tri-series that also features England and Sri Lanka. Lanning, who announced her retirement from international cricket in November 2023, continues to participate in franchise tournaments and domestic cricket worldwide.
Kristen Beams, the team's head coach, and assistants Lisa Keightley and Clive Rose will be with Lanning. Between March 30 and April 18, the tri-series will be played in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. Throughout the series, each team will play a practice match, four Twenty20 matches, and two one-day games.
For the series, Australia announced a squad of fourteen players.
"It was crucial for us to select players who will be eligible for selection for the Under 19 World Cup campaign next year. All fourteen players have played incredible cricket thus far this summer.
"The Tri-Series will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent coming through Australia's cricket pathways against two strong opponents in Sri Lanka and England," said assistant coach Beams.
