Manav Suthar star in India's biggest innings win

In Mullanpur, India defeated Afghanistan by a record 300 runs in an innings thanks to Manav Suthar's six-for in his Test debut innings and the spinners' combined eight wickets in the second innings. Resuming on the overnight score of 113/5, trailing by 451 more, Afghanistan succumbed to 152 in their first innings. Despite Rahmat Shah's brief resistance, the Indian bowlers Suthar and Prasidh Krishna had already picked up a wicket early on Day 3 and turned his patient knock into a 60. Once Rahmat fell - becoming Suthar's fifth victim - Afghanistan collapsed quickly. India imposed the follow-on, and to their credit, Afghanistan did begin their second innings on a bright note. The openers put on a 42-run stand, with Abdul Malik holding the fort and Sediqullah Atal bringing in most runs. Atal and Ramanullah Gurbaz put together a 32-run partnership for the second wicket before Malik dropped after a patient 8 off 40 deliveries. Gurbaz played the agressor, making a run-a-ball 24, inclusive of three boundaries and a six. Afghanistan collapsed quickly after Kuldeep Yadav severed this partnership. Rahmat Shah was the only other batter to reach double digits after Atal was struck out for 42. Washington Sundar broke through the middle order to score 4 for 36 runs, and Kuldeep scored three for 30 runs as the visitors lost the second innings for just 112 runs and conceded a significant victory.
