Nabi fined for disobeying umpire's decision

The Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has been fined 15% of his match fees for disobeying the decision of the umpire during his team's match on Wednesday against South Africa. Nabi got into a long argument with the umpires about the wrist band of bowler Lungi Ngidi in the 14th over of Afghanistan's innings. In taking objection to the umpire's decision, he breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. According to a statement released by the ICC on Thursday, Nabi acknowledged the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by David Gilbert of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As a result, there was no need for a formal hearing. He has also been handed one demerit point since it was his first offence in a 24-month period. The closely fought match between the two teams ended in a tie, and South Africa needed two Super Overs to win the match and take home two points.
