Pakistan Super League 2025 Set to Continue Later This Week

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 is set to resume this week, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) planning to host the remaining eight matches between May 17 and May 25 in Pakistan. Rawalpindi has been proposed as the primary venue for these fixtures. The league was previously suspended due to escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. Initially, the PCB considered relocating the remaining matches to the UAE; however, logistical challenges and security concerns led to the decision to resume the tournament domestically. A significant challenge facing the resumption is the availability of overseas players. Many foreign players had departed Pakistan during the suspension, and their return remains uncertain. To address potential squad shortages, the PCB is contemplating a replacement draft to fill the gaps left by unavailable players. Notably, Australian cricketer David Warner has confirmed his return to Pakistan for the remaining matches, indicating a positive development for the league's resumption. Free Press Journal The PCB is expected to finalize and announce the detailed schedule, including match dates and venues, in the coming days. The successful completion of PSL 2025 will also coincide with the end of the ten-year leases for the six franchises, with discussions underway regarding future ownership structures.
