Samarawickrama to replace Lanning who is injured in Trinbago Knight Riders Women's
Sri Lanka batter Harshitha Samarawickrama has replaced the injured Meg Lanning at Trinbago Knight Riders in Women's Caribbean Premier League 2024.
Samarawickrama, a left-hand top-request hitter, will join Shikha Pandey, Jemimah Rodrigues and Jess Jonassen as the other abroad players for Knight Riders. She is just the second Sri Lankan lady to be essential for an abroad association after Chamari Athapaththu.
The transition to pick Samarawickrama comes when her stocks are rising. She was the Player of the Last with an unbeaten 69 off 51 balls in Sri Lanka's lady title succeed at Ladies' Asia Cup 2024. She followed that with consecutive fifties in the T20I series against Ireland prior to turning into the third lady to hit an ODI century for Sri Lanka with her 105 against similar rivals. Generally speaking, she has 1463 runs in 65 T20Is at a strike pace of 99.72.
Lanning was in real life at the Hundred recently, where her side, London Soul, came out on top for the championship. However, she, when all is said and done, had a lean run of scores: 170 runs in ten innings at a strike pace of 125.
Knight Riders start their WCPL 2024 mission against Barbados Royals in Tarouba on Thursday.
