Shafali Verma returns to India T20 squad for England tour

Shafali Verma, a dynamic opener, has rejoined the Indian team for the upcoming tour of England. Shafali was dropped from the squads by the end of last year, but her excellent performance in the Women's Premier League, where she finished as the fourth highest run-getter, earned her a spot in the T20I squad.
Sayali Satghare, who made her debut against Ireland at the start of 2025, has been recalled as well but unlike Shafali, she features in both the squads. Kashvee Gautam has been replaced by Kranti Gaud, and Sayali has also been added to the team that played in the tri-series that ended recently in Sri Lanka.
However, it is the T20 squad that has witnessed wholesale changes. Yastika Bhatia, Harleen Deol, and Sneh Rana, who recently won the player of the tournament award in the tri-series, have all returned, and Harleen Deol and Yastika Bhatia are also back. Uma Chetry, who had opened in India's last T20I assignment against West Indies, has been left out alongside others with the selectors sticking with most of the ODI core for the T20I leg as well.
The first T20I of the tour takes place at Trent Bridge on June 28. After the conclusion of the five-match series, the teams will play three ODIs with the tour concluding on July 22.
T20I squad : Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (WK), Yastika Bhatia (WK), Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Sree Charani, Shuchi Upadhyay, Amanjot Kaur, Arundhati Reddy, Kranti Gaud, Sayali Satghare
