Shukri Conrad named South Africa men's all-format coach

Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Friday that Shukri Conrad will now serve as the head coach across all formats for the South African men's national team. Having previously led the Test side, Conrad steps into the role vacated by Rob Walter, who officially ended his tenure as white-ball coach at the close of April. Conrad’s contract will see him at the helm through the 2027 World Cup, set to be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. During his stint with the Test squad, Conrad guided South Africa to the World Test Championship final, where they are set to face Australia at Lord’s next month. “Being entrusted with the Test team has been the highlight of my coaching career, and now taking on the white-ball sides too is an extraordinary opportunity,” Conrad stated in CSA’s announcement. “I’m thrilled about what lies ahead. Our white-ball squads are packed with talent—seasoned campaigners and young guns alike. We’ve got a solid platform, and I truly believe there’s greatness in this group." He added, “There’s a demanding stretch in front of us: the WTC final, the T20 World Cup next year, and our home 50-over World Cup the following year. Careful planning will be crucial to rotate and manage players effectively, so we field our best in every format.”
