Despite being out of contention for the final, the Proteas delivered a comprehensive performance, highlighted by Annerie Dercksen's maiden ODI century and Chloe Tryon's exceptional all-round display.
South Africa's Innings
Opting to bat first, South Africa faced early setbacks, collapsing from 68 for 0 to 127 for 6, primarily due to Dewmi Vihanga's impressive five-wicket haul (5/43) . However, Dercksen and Tryon orchestrated a remarkable recovery, forging a 112-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Dercksen's aggressive 104 off 84 balls, featuring nine fours and five sixes, marked the fastest century by a South African woman in ODIs . In pursuit of 316, Sri Lanka began positively with a 52-run opening stand. Captain Chamari Athapaththu led the charge with a 52-run innings. However, the momentum shifted when Tryon dismissed both openers, initiating a collapse. Sri Lanka faltered from 124 for 2 to 191 for 6. Tryon then sealed the match with a hat-trick in the 42nd over, removing Dewmi Vihanga, Sugandika Kumari, and Malki Madara in consecutive deliveries.
