Stats: A 36-run over and a new PP record
West Indies hammered Afghanistan in their final group game to head into the Super 8 stages of the 2024 T20 World Cup with momentum on their side. In what's been a rare occurrence in this year's World Cup, West Indies put on a show with the bat before dismantling Afghanistan with ease.
36 runs fell off the fourth over of the innings bowled by Azmatullah Omarzai, the joint-record and the fifth such occurrence in T20Is. It was the second 36-run over in T20 World Cup history after Yuvraj Singh's six-sixes accomplishment against Stuart Broad in Durban in 2007. Nicholas Pooran scored 26 off the 36 runs in the Omarzai over (two fours and three sixes), while the other 10 came by means of additional items.
