Meerut Mavericks justified their table-topping tag from the UP T20 League 2024 season by defeating Kanpur Superstars in a high-octane finale at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium on Saturday, September 14. Chasing 191, Meerut Mavericks lost opening batter Akshay Dubey for a two-ball duck to Mohsin Khan in the first over of the innings. Uvaish Ahmed at number three was also toppled early in the run-chase, albeit by Rishabh Rajput as the Mavericks slipped to 40-2 inside five overs. Despite falling to 106-4 at the halfway stage of the chase, Meerut Mavericks skipper Madhav Kaushik marched on and formed match-defining partnerships with Divyansh Rajput (24 off 20) and Ritik Vats (20* off 10) for the subsequent two wickets. Kaushik himself top-scored with 69 unbeaten runs from just 43 deliveries with a couple of boundaries and five towering sixes to steer Meerut Mavericks to a remarkable heist in the final over.
