Will Sutherland, an all-rounder from Australia, has renewed his contract to play for Yorkshire this summer. He will be available for the duration of the Vitality Blast, from May to July, as well as two rounds of the Rothesay County Championship. In the BBL, Sutherland, 26, is captain of the state team Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades. He played in the Blast for Yorkshire last season, taking 10 wickets and scoring 208 runs, as well as featuring in three Championship fixtures. Sutherland stated, "I'm really excited to be coming back to Headingley." He added, "I had a fantastic time with the club last year." "Working with Mags (Anthony McGrath) and the other coaches helped me improve my game, and I developed a strong bond with the other guys along the way. Last year, Yorkshire finished last in the Blast North Group, but they have improved their team by signing Moeen Ali on a T20 contract and AJ Tye, another Australia international who is locally qualified. They will offer Afghanistan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq and Netherlands allrounder Logan van Beek as international players for the Blast in addition to Sutherland.
