Ailsa Lister handed demerit point for breaching ICC Code of Conduct
Scotland batter Ailsa Lister has been handed an official reprimand while one demerit point has also been added to her disciplinary record after she breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 game against West Indies on Thursday.
Lister was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match".
The incident occurred in the 19th over of Scotland's innings when, after her dismissal, Lister threw her bat and gloves on the ground as she left the field, and then kicked and knocked over a bin next to the team dugout. She was seventh out for 33 out of 25 balls, and Scotland's pursuit of 154 was dashed.
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Claire Polosak and Kerrin Klaaste, third umpire N Janani, and fourth umpire Nimali Perera. Lister admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee GS Lakshmi, so there was no need for a formal hearing. This was Lister's first offence in a 24-month period.
Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50% of a player's match fee, and one or two demerit points.
