Alzarri Joseph rested for Sri Lanka T20Is

Cricket West Indies confirmed the absence of fast bowler Alzarri Joseph from the upcoming home T20I series against Sri Lanka during the announcement of the squad. As part of his workload management in preparation for the two-match Test series against the same team, Joseph has received a break. This series will be West Indies' first in the format post the 2026 T20 World Cup in which they were in contention to reach the semifinal. Shamar Springer, Jewel Andrew, and Ackeem Auguste have joined CWI's team in place of Jewel Andrew. Johnson Charles, Quentin Sampson, and Jayden Seales have all been replaced by these three players, all of whom have previous experience playing the format for the West Indies. It is anticipated that Shamar Joseph, who left the team prior to the third ODI, will return prior to the T20 leg. The second and third games of the ODI series were washed out, but Sri Lanka had prevailed 1-0. Sabina Park in Jamaica will also play host to the T20Is with the games scheduled to be played on June 11, 13 and 14. Head Coach Daren Sammy stated, "This series is an important one for us because it is our first since the World Cup in India, where the team played with passion, fight, and the togetherness that West Indies cricket is built on." "Our focus now is to build on those foundations, continue growing as a team and make our fans proud with the way we compete against Sri Lanka."
