Ashok Sharma replaces injured Yudhvir Singh in India A squad
Fast bowler Ashok Sharma has replaced Yudhvir Singh in the India A squad for the ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday (June 16).
Last week, Yudhvir had complained of pain in his right shoulder twice, once while bowling on June 13 and once during a fielding practice on June 11. As a result, the BCCI Medical Team has advised that Yudhvir undergo a graduated rehabilitation programme at the BCCI Centre of Excellence to recover completely from the right rotator cuff injury.
Before making his debut in the Indian Premier League for Gujarat Titans, Ashok made a meteoric rise in the last few months, finishing as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He hit the headlines once during the tournament for delivering a pacy delivery clocked at 154.2 kmph, playing six games in total.
So far in the tournament, India A, led by Tilak Varma, has played three games. India A beat hosts Sri Lanka A in a close game, then lost to Afghanistan A in another close game before losing to the hosts in a super over on Monday.
