Australian All-Rounder Jack Edwards Misses IPL 2026 Due to Foot Injury

Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards has been ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a foot injury, dealing a major blow to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Edwards, who was signed for ₹3 crore, was the only uncapped overseas player bought in the auction. This injury adds to SRH's woes, as captain Pat Cummins will also miss the start of the tournament due to a lumbar stress issue. Ishan Kishan has been appointed as the stand-in captain, with Abhishek Sharma as vice-captain. Jack Edwards had a solid BBL 2025-26 season with Sydney Sixers, grabbing 19 wickets and scoring 133 runs in 13 games. However, his international debut didn't quite match up, taking none for 25 from two overs and scoring 5 from six balls against Pakistan in Perth. He's been keeping busy, playing two Sheffield Shield games for New South Wales since then. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is facing a tough start to IPL 2026 with captain Pat Cummins recovering from a lumbar stress issue and all-rounder Jack Edwards ruled out due to a foot injury. Ishan Kishan will lead the team in Cummins' absence, with Abhishek Sharma as vice-captain. Edwards' injury adds to the list of Australian fast bowlers missing the IPL, including Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Ellis. SRH's bowling lineup is already a concern, and Edwards' absence is a significant blow. The team will rely on Brydon Carse, Jaydev Unadkat, and Harshal Patel to fill the gap. On the bright side, SRH's batting lineup is strong, featuring Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen. Edwards had a strong Big Bash League season, picking up 19 wickets and scoring 133 runs in 13 matches for Sydney Sixers. He made his T20I debut for Australia against Pakistan in January 2026, scoring five runs in his only match.
