Babar Azam Appointed Pakistan Test captain for West Indies, England tours
Babar Azam will replace Shan Masood as Pakistan's Test captain for the upcoming tours of England and the West Indies. Masood, who was made captain of the Test team almost three years ago, lost 12 of the 16 Test games he captained, which was not very impressive.
The recent whitewash at the hands of Bangladesh, which has occurred twice in the last two years, appeared to be the final nail in the coffin. Whitewashing away has also occurred in South Africa and Australia. In recent times, Babar, who was captain before Masood, has struggled to perform well in Test cricket.
Saud Shakeel was added to the 16-man West Indies series squad by the selectors as the 17th member for the England tour, subject to fitness. Left-arm spinner Ali Usman, batter Muhammad Awais Zafar, pacer Ubaid Shah, and wicket-keeper batter Muhammad Ghazi Ghori are the four uncapped players included in the squads.
By the end of the month, Pakistan will first travel to West Indies to play two Tests. The first Test will be held in Tarouba from July 25 to 29, and the second will be held in Port of Spain from August 2 to 6. The team will then travel to England for the three-match series, which will be played between August 19 and September 13 at Leeds, Lord's, and Birmingham.
