Blow for Bangladesh: Litton Das out of Zimbabwe ODIs with hamstring
Injury blow for Bangladesh
Das, a key batter and former captain, will miss the entire ODI series against Zimbabwe. The injury comes during Bangladesh's white-ball tour, with the ODI series currently underway before the T20Is. Bangladesh lose experience at the top order and behind the stumps. The team will have to reshuffle and give an opportunity to a replacement.
He had originally been ruled out of only the first ODI on July 6, but will now miss the entire series and will continue his rehab in Dhaka. Litton's injury absence is a substantial blow to a Bangladesh side, which was stunned by Zimbabwe in the ODI series opener.
Parvez Hossain Emon has been named as Litton's replacement for the second and third ODIs.
Failed fitness test
According to Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan, Litton underwent a fitness test today but the outcome was not satisfactory. Already missed first ODI. He sat out the first ODI and was hoping to recover, but with back-to-back ODIs coming up, the team doesn’t expect him to get fit in time. Khan confirmed: "we don't think he will make sufficient progress to play any part in the series." So Litton will miss the whole ODI series against Zimbabwe.
Bangladesh will face Zimbabwe in the second ODI in Harare on July 9. The visitors need to win on Thursday to keep the series alive.
