Clinical Zalmi deflate Sultans to get off the mark

With a four-fer, Ali Raza ripped through Multan Sultan's middle order, and Peshawar Zalmi got off to a great start in PSL 2025 with a 120-run victory in Rawalpindi. Zalmi chose to bat, losing their openers Babar Azam and Saim Ayub cheaply. However, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Mohammad Haris, who scored 79 runs for the third wicket in just 31 balls, took control. Kohler-Cadmore was particularly brutal, defeating Michael Bracewell in the fourth over for a couple of sixes. He continued his attack on spin by tearing Usama Mir apart for three more sixes. Haris made the most of the opportunity, which came early in his innings thanks to a dropped catch. In the final powerplay over, he tore into Akif Javed and smashed the pacer for 25 runs. Usman Khan, who had dropped Haris earlier in the innings, offered a life to Kohler-Cadmore as well.
Two set batters, Kohler-Cadmore and Haris, left quickly as the innings got closer to the final overs, but that didn't stop Zalmi from moving forward. Mitchell Owen immediately got involved and dropped Usama for a few sixes and a boundary. Zalmi was able to post a massive total of 227 for 7 thanks in large part to Abdul Samad's 14-ball 40. Sultans responded with a promising start, but they were unable to keep up with the required rate. The innings fell apart after Shai Hope left for a run-a-ball 20 in the seventh over. With his 22-ball 44, Usman Khan fought alone, but wickets kept falling from the other end. Sultans had already fallen to 90 for 6 when he left in the 11th over. The Sultans were bowled out for 107 in less than 16 overs, their third loss in a row, and Arif Yakoob, who broke the partnership between Usman and Hope, contributed with three wickets. Ali Raza struck out the four batters in the middle order. Brief Results: Peshawar Zalmi defeated Multan Sultans 107 in 15.5 overs (Usman Khan 44, Shai Hope 20; Ali Raza 4-21, Arif Yakoob 3-20) by 120 runs in 20 overs (Tom Kohler-Cadmore 52, Mohammad Haris 45; David Willey 2-36, Michael Bracewell 2-37).
