CSK sign Urvil Patel as a replacement for injured Vansh Bedi

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel as a replacement for the injured Vansh Bedi for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. Bedi suffered a ligament tear in his left ankle just before what was to be his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, ruling him out of the tournament . Urvil Patel, 26, joins CSK for his base price of ₹30 lakh. Known for his explosive batting, he holds the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian, scoring it in just 28 balls during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Patel has previously played for Gujarat Titans in the 2023 IPL season and has accumulated 1,162 runs in 47 T20 matches . With CSK out of playoff contention, Patel's inclusion is seen as a strategic move to invest in emerging talent and prepare for future seasons. His aggressive batting style and wicketkeeping skills are expected to add depth to the squad as they aim to finish the season on a positive note .
