Dhoni skips Delhi trip to focus on rehab
MS Dhoni has not traveled to New Delhi, where Chennai Super Kings will play Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, May 6 in their next match. The CSK hero and former captain has returned to Chennai to continue his rehabilitation from a calf injury.
Dhoni is clearly still not ready for a match, but the team hasn't said if he won't play in the current season. It was informed by a senior team official that "he should be available at some stage." There are still five games left in the CSK season. On May 10, Chennai Super Kings take on Lucknow Super Giants, and on May 15, they play the second leg in Lucknow against Rishabh Pant's team.
After that, they play Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 18, and on May 21, they play Gujarat Titans in their final league game of the season in Ahmedabad. This season, Dhoni has not appeared in a single game. In fact, his last IPL game was on May 25, 2025, against GT, almost a year ago.
With four victories from nine games, the Super Kings are in sixth place in the points table. They still have a good chance of qualifying for the round of 16 if they win all four of their remaining matches.
