Faf du Plessis ruled out of remainder of SA20 season

On Tuesday, January 13, Joburg Super Kings suffered a setback when captain Faf du Plessis was declared ineligible for the remainder of the SA20 2025-26 season. According to the franchise, Du Plessis broke the ligament in his right thumb, necessitating surgery to repair the damage. On January 10, the 41-year-old suffered the injury in JSK's most recent match against MI Cape Town. The skipper didn't even go out to bat during the chase after MICT scored a massive 234/3, and JSK lost the game. In his five innings of playing in the tournament, Du Plessis has scored 135 runs. JSK have had a mixed bag, having won three games and lost two with two more getting washed out. With three league games remaining, they are third in the table at the moment. Donovan Ferreira is expected to lead the team for the remainder of the campaign if du Plessis is absent.
