According to the franchise, Du Plessis broke the ligament in his right thumb, necessitating surgery to repair the damage. On January 10, the 41-year-old suffered the injury in JSK's most recent match against MI Cape Town. The skipper didn't even go out to bat during the chase after MICT scored a massive 234/3, and JSK lost the game. In his five innings of playing in the tournament, Du Plessis has scored 135 runs. JSK have had a mixed bag, having won three games and lost two with two more getting washed out. With three league games remaining, they are third in the table at the moment.
