G Kamalini ruled out of WPL, Vaishnavi Sharma named replacement
Vaishnavi Sharma, a left-arm spinner, has been selected by Mumbai Indians to replace wicketkeeper G Kamalini, who will miss the remainder of the WPL 2026 due to an unspecified injury.
Kamalini, 17, played in five games for MI this season, scoring 75 runs with a best of 32 against RCB in the tournament's opening match.
Vaishnavi comes to the franchise with a growing pedigree for a price of INR 30 lakh. The left-arm spinner was a member of India's team that won the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup in 2025. Since then, she has progressed to the next level, making her senior international debut in the five T20Is against Sri Lanka in the WPL season before that.
The 20-year-old Vaishnavi also recently earned a call-up to the ODI side for the tour of Australia set to begin after the WPL season.
Mumbai Indians, who have won the WPL 2026 title twice, are currently in second place in the standings after winning two of their first five games.
