Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named as replacement for Riyan Parag in the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Sunday (May 31). Parag, who was named the vice-captain in the squad, has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, and he will undergo rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. During his IPL 2026 season with Rajasthan Royals, which he led to a Qualifier 2 finish, Parag struggled with a hamstring injury. Due to injury, he also missed a few games. Additionally, Gaikwad will take over as vice-captain of the team. On June 9, the "A" teams from Sri Lanka, India, and Afghanistan will begin the tri-series.
