Hampshire signed Codi Yusuf as Jayden Seales replacement

Codi Yusuf, a seamer from South Africa, has been signed by Hampshire for the County Championship's first set of games. Jayden Seales, who was denied a No-Objection Certificate by his home board, is replaced by Yusuf. Yusuf, 27, has represented South Africa in two Test matches and one One-Day International. During his time playing county cricket for Durham last season, he also appeared in multiple formats. He has an average of 28.22 for 131 wickets in first-class cricket. He will work with new head coach Russell Domingo at Hampshire, who is still in charge of Lions, Yusuf's domestic team. In the SA20, Yusuf also plays for Pretoria Capitals, which are owned by GMR group, Hampshire's majority shareholder. Giles White, Hampshire's director of cricket, stated, "Naturally, it is disappointing not to have Jayden with us, but we are pleased to have secured an excellent replacement in Codi Yusuf." "Codi, a Lions player, comes highly recommended by Russell. He has valuable international experience and is familiar with English conditions from his time with Durham last season. "We are delighted to welcome Codi and look forward to his arrival, despite the fact that the past couple of weeks have been frustrating as we have had to adjust our plans at short notice." After losing Michael Neser, whose contract was terminated at Cricket Australia's direction after he returned to the team's list of centrally contracted players, Hampshire had initially hoped to sign West Indies seamer Seales.
