Harsh Dubey replaces R Smaran at SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made a strategic change to their squad for the ongoing IPL 2025 season by signing left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey as a replacement for Ravichandran Smaran. This move comes after Smaran, who had earlier joined SRH as a substitute for the injured Adam Zampa, was released from the squad. Harsh Dubey has been in exceptional form in domestic cricket, notably setting a new Ranji Trophy record by claiming 69 wickets in a single season. This remarkable achievement surpasses the previous record held by Ashutosh Aman, who took 68 wickets in the 2018–19 season. Dubey's consistent performances have made him one of the most promising spin talents in Indian cricket. Ravichandran Smaran, a left-handed batter, had been brought into the SRH squad in April 2025 to fill the void left by Zampa's shoulder injury. Despite his potential, Smaran did not feature in any matches for SRH during his brief stint with the team. With Harsh Dubey's inclusion, SRH aims to bolster their spin department as they navigate the remainder of the season. His addition is expected to provide the team with greater flexibility and depth in their bowling attack.
