Hurricanes Ease Past Strikers Despite Liam Scott's 91*
Liam Scott's unbeaten 91 went in vain as Hobart Hurricanes defeated Adelaide Strikers by 37 runs in the Big Bash League 2025-26. Scott's magnificent knock, featuring six boundaries and five sixes, wasn't enough to propel the Strikers to victory. The Hurricanes' strong bowling, led by Nathan Ellis's 2-7, restricted the Strikers to 141-9.
Hobart Hurricanes posted a competitive total of 178-6, thanks to Mitchell Owen's explosive 33 off nine deliveries and Scott's 91*. However, the Strikers' top order collapsed, losing wickets cheaply, including Matthew Short, Chris Lynn, and Mackenzie Harvey, all falling inside the powerplay.
Hurricanes passed 50 in the third over, before Strikers pulled back the run rate with their spinners. Paceman Jamie Overton took the big scalps of Nikhil Chaudhary (23 from 17 balls) and Ben McDermott (18 from 23) in the 14th over.
Nathan Ellis's bowling masterclass, supported by Riley Meredith's pace and Rishad Hossain's guile, sealed the win for the Hurricanes. Ellis's impactful performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
