Jasprit Bumrah picked for 2026 Asian Games

India have picked Jasprit Bumrah in a strong squad for the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Japan in September this year. The team that was selected for the tours of Ireland and England will once again be led by Shreyas Iyer, the newly appointed captain of the T20I. In the Asian Games, Bumrah, who has been rested for those two tours, will lead India's bowling attack. Mohammed Siraj and Prince Yadav have been left out of the Irish and English teams for the Asian Games. For the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, which coincided with the ODI World Cup that same year, India sent a second-string team. Ruturaj Gaikwad led that team to a Gold medal despite the absence of several prominent players, including the team's captain at the time, Rohit Sharma. The tournament will be held in Japan's Aichi prefecture this year, with Nagoya serving as the main hub for most of the action. The tournament will be held from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
