Kate Cross commits to Lancashire with new contract
Kate Cross has signed a new one-year contract with Lancashire Women, extending her 21-year association with the club.
The England seamer had considered retiring after losing her central contract with the national team in September 2025, but is now committed to another full season. Cross, who has taken over 350 wickets domestically and 140 wickets in international matches, helped Lancashire win the T20 County Cup and Metro Bank One-Day Cup in 2025. She'll be looking to add more silverware to her collection, particularly the Blast trophy, in 2026.
Cross said last year that she was taken aback by the speed with which her international career reached an apparent end and cast doubt over her future, saying: "I'm also sat here questioning whether I want to play cricket again."

Kate Cross reflects on her decision to continue playing cricket, saying it feels like an easy choice in hindsight. She's grateful to Lancashire, where her cricket journey began, and is happy to sign her first professional domestic contract with the club. "It feels really nice to be able to come full circle," she says.
Kate Cross is motivated to win more trophies with Lancashire, especially the Blast trophy, after their successful 2025 season. "Some of my favourite moments happened last year... now it's about trying to better that," she says, eager to add to their T20 County Cup and Metro Bank One-Day Cup wins.
