Kira Chathli to lead England A against India
Surrey's wicketkeeper-batsman Kira Chathli will lead England A beginning later this month in the T20 and 50-over series against India. Jodi Grewcock, Ryana MacDonald-Gay, and Charis Pavely are the three senior players on the teams.
There are also a number of players who are hoping to be selected for England in the near future, like Davina Perrin, Grace Scrivens, and Sophia Smale. England A, who will be overseen by England Women's lead batting coach Jon Lewis, will take on India in three T20s and three one-day games, starting in Northampton on June 20.
"The India series will be another test of where this very talented group of players is at," Lewis said. "Earning selection for an A side is proof you're on the right path, but the next challenge is scoring runs or taking wickets consistently in domestic cricket and pushing for senior selection.
"A series against another nation is always a positive thing and I'm sure we'll learn a lot from it. I'm delighted for Kira, I'm sure she'll look forward to leading the group and I know she'll take a lot from it."
Chathli took over as captain of Surrey's 50-over team this season. He helped them win five out of eight group games and appears to have jumped ahead of Essex's Scrivens, who led the A team last year.
