A Colombo court remanded Jaffna Kings co-owner and former India Under-19 cricketer Manjot Kalra in custody until July 31 a day after his arrest in an alleged corruption case connected to the 2026 Lanka Premier League (LPL). Police told the court that Kalra had allegedly offered Sri Lankan players Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dunith Wellalage, and Avishka Fernando an offer of more than US$30,000 to influence LPL matches, as reported in local media. The court was also informed that the investigation included video and phone conversations. The allegations have been refuted by Kalra's legal team. The court ordered that he remain in custody until July 31 as investigations continue. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has stated that it will fully cooperate with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the country, which arrested Kalra on July 16, just hours before the LPL 2026's first match.
