Mendis, Shanaka Shine in Thrilling 12-Over Chase for Sri Lanka
In a thrilling encounter, Dasun Shanaka and Angelo Matheesha Mendis put on a batting masterclass, guiding Sri Lanka to a stunning win and squaring the series. The duo's explosive partnership turned the game on its head, with Sri Lanka chasing down the target in just 12 overs.
Shanaka UNLEASHED ! Sri Lanka's captain came in with 19 balls left and turned the game on its head! 3 sixes off the first 3 balls of the last over, 2 over deep cover.
Agha sets the chase alight
Of the 12 he faced, the only ball Agha didn't score off was the one he got out to. Agha hit three sixes, five fours, one three, and two twos in his innings. He took a particular liking to the bowling of Maheesh Theekshana, who went for 22 runs in the third over. His most spectacular shot was an over-the-shoulder scoop against Matheesha Pathirana in the fourth over, which sailed over the boundary. But then Pathirana wised up, bowled fuller, and Agha sent a catch to short fine leg to end his innings.
Shanaka and Mendis were unstoppable, smashing boundaries and taking the opposition bowlers to task. Their partnership was the turning point, and Sri Lanka seized the momentum to clinch the win.
