MI sign uncapped legspinner Raghu Sharma as replacement for injured Vignesh Puthur

Mumbai Indians (MI) have signed leg-spinner Raghu Sharma as a replacement for the injured Vignesh Puthur for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. Vignesh Puthur, a promising left-arm wrist-spinner, was ruled out due to bone stress reactions in both his shins. He made a notable debut earlier this season, taking three wickets against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and accumulated six wickets in five matches overall.
Raghu Sharma, a 32-year-old right-arm leg-break bowler from Jalandhar, Punjab, joins MI at his base price of ₹30 lakh from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) list. He has represented Punjab and Puducherry in domestic cricket, taking 57 wickets in 11 first-class matches at an average of 19.59, with best figures of 7/56. This marks Sharma’s maiden stint in the IPL.
MI's next match is against Rajasthan Royals on May 1, 2025, where Sharma may make his debut.
