Milton Shumba ruled out of India T20Is with hamstring injury
Zimbabwe batter Milton Shumba has been ruled out of the three T20Is against India, starting on July 23 (Thursday), due to a right hamstring injury. Innocent Kaia has been roped in as his replacement and has already joined up with the squad ahead of the series opening in Harare.
Shumba underwent scans on Tuesday which revealed the extent of his injury, sidelining the 25-year-old from the series. The recently-concluded series against Bangladesh, where he played in all three T20Is, had marked his comeback to the T20I side since last playing in the format in 2022.
Shumba’s replacement Kaia has also been brought back in from wilderness, after having last featured in a T20I in July 2024 - at the same venue and against the same opposition.
Following the series opener on Thursday, India and Zimbabwe will contest in the second and third fixtures on Saturday and Sunday, all at the same venue.
