Mohammad Amir returns to Essex for Vitality T20 Blast

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has rejoined Essex County Cricket Club for the 2025 Vitality T20 Blast season. The 33-year-old left-arm pacer previously represented Essex from 2017 to 2019, taking 24 wickets in 21 matches and playing a key role in the club's 2019 double triumph, securing both the County Championship and the T20 Blast titles .
Amir expressed his enthusiasm about returning to Chelmsford, stating, "I am very excited to join Essex once again. I have always enjoyed my time at this club where I feel at home, and the love I received from the team and the amazing supporters was overwhelming" . He is set to wear shirt number 5 and is expected to participate in all group-stage matches, with the possibility of extending his stay into the knockout rounds if Essex qualifies .
Essex's Director of Cricket, Chris Silverwood, welcomed Amir's return, highlighting his experience and skillset as valuable assets to the squad . Amir's recent performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Quetta Gladiators saw him claim seven wickets in six games, demonstrating his continued prowess in the T20 format .
Essex will commence their T20 Blast campaign against Hampshire Hawks on May 30, 2025 .
