Nat Sciver-Brunt ruled out of New Zealand ODIs
Nat Sciver-Brunt will not play in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting on May 10 at home. Following the England captain's minor left calf tear while playing for The Blaze against Warwickshire in the One-Day Cup on Wednesday (April 29), the move is taken as a precaution.
England will be led by vice-captain Charlie Dean during the ODI portion of New Zealand's tour prior to the home T20 World Cup. Maia Bouchier has also been called up by the hosts to serve as batting cover for the bilateral series.
The scans done on Saturday (May 2) confirmed the extent of the injury. The medical advice for Sciver-Brunt is "a period of rest," with additional evaluation in the coming days.
As a result, Sciver-Brunt's availability for the World Cup-preparatory T20I matches against New Zealand and India will be determined in due time.
