Pakistan-Born USA Pacer Ali Khan Denied Indian Visa for T20 World Cup

Ali Khan, a Pakistan-born fast bowler for the USA cricket team, has been denied an Indian visa ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Khan, who has played 18 T20Is for the USA and taken 16 wickets, shared the news on Instagram, posting "India visa denied but KFC for the win". Three other USA players of Pakistani origin, Shayan Jahangir, Ehsan Adil, and Mohammad Mohsin, are also facing visa issues. The USA team is scheduled to play three of their four group matches in India, starting with their opening game against India on February 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Worsening diplomatic and political ties between India and Pakistan have made visas an complicated issue in recent years, even for players who are nationals of other countries. England's Shoaib Bashir and Saqib Mahmood had faced delays in obtaining visas but were granted them eventually, as was the case with Australia's Usman Khawaja. The visas for the Pakistan team were also delayed ahead of their travel to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup. The visa denial has raised concerns about Khan's participation in the tournament, which is co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. The ICC is reportedly assisting teams with visa-related processes, but the issue highlights the challenges faced by players of Pakistani origin in obtaining Indian visas.
