Pakistan have omitted experienced pace bowler Diana Baig from their squads for the upcoming Women's T20 Asia Cup in Dubai and the Asian Games in Japan. Baig & Riaz Dropped: Both Diana Baig and Aliya Riaz were initially dropped for the recent Sri Lanka T20I series following poor performances in the T20 World Cup. While Baig misses out on both squads, Riaz returns exclusively for the Asian Games squad (which was submitted back in June). There are three changes in the 15-player squads for the Asia Cup and Asian Games. Wicketkeeper Najiha Alvi and left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal are the other two players only selected for the Asia Cup. In the media release to announce the squads, the PCB explained that the squad for the Asian Games was submitted in June. It indicates that Pakistan are also considering moving on from Riaz, who was axed after the T20 World Cup but is only among the 15 players for the Asian Games as the list was submitted before her poor run in the T20 World Cup. Fatima Sana Returns as Captain: Regular skipper Fatima Sana returns to lead both squads after skipping the Sri Lanka T20Is to participate in the Women's Hundred. Fast-Bowling Contingent: Saira Jabeen is named in both squads, joined by Waheeda Akhtar for the Asia Cup and Tasmia Rubab for the Asian Games.
