Pant Fifty Gives LSG Win After Shami's Early Magic
Mohammed Shami set up LSG's victory with a solid bowling performance, and Rishabh Pant's fifty took them past SRH. LSG won the match, chasing down SRH's 156/9 with 5 wickets and 1 ball remaining. Pant scored 68 runs off 50 balls, while Aiden Markram contributed 45 runs. Shami took 2 wickets, conceding just 9 runs in his 4 overs.
Ishan Kishan and Liam Livingstone didn't last long either, leaving SRH on 26 for 4 in the eighth over. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy rescued them by adding 116 in 63 balls - the highest fifth-wicket partnership for SRH. The previous record, of 82, was set in the previous game by these two very batters. But Avesh Khan and co came back strongly in the death overs to restrict SRH to 156 for 9.
Aiden Markram's explosive 45 off 27 balls set LSG up for a strong chase, but the pitch's tricky conditions made it tough for them to maintain momentum. Rishabh Pant, who had struggled to find his rhythm, turned the game around with two fours off Jaydev Unadkat's first two balls, leveling the scores. He then sealed the win with a lofted shot over mid-off, showcasing his trademark aggression.
Mohammed Shami was on fire against his former team SRH, striking twice in his first seven balls. He got Abhishek Sharma caught with an offcutter and then outfoxed Travis Head with a slower ball. Prince Yadav added to SRH's woes, getting Mayank Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi out. LSG's bowling was top-notch, and SRH was in trouble early on.
Klaasen and Reddy's partnership was a much-needed boost for SRH. They took SRH from 35/4 to 123/4 in just 6 overs, adding 88 runs. Klaasen's fifty off 33 balls and Reddy's quick 30-ball knock showed SRH's fighting spirit. They smashed 79 runs in 5 overs, turning the game around.
Opening the bowling for SRH, Harsh Dubey started with a two-run over. But Markam and Mitchell Marsh picked up three fours off Reddy in the next. Markram also hit the first six of the innings when he pulled a slower ball from Unadkat over wide long-on. Marsh fell to Eshan Malinga for 14 off 12 balls, but Markram kept going. In the last over of the powerplay, he hit two fours and a six off Unadkat to take LSG to 53 for 1.
Pant turned the game around for LSG with his explosive batting. He smashed two fours off Unadkat, and Samad did the same against Malinga, bringing it down to 19 needed from 18 balls. Pant's calm and aggression paid off, sealing the win with a lofted shot over mid-off.
