Rodrigues sidelined for Asia Cup and Asian Games, Rawal gets big break
Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the upcoming Women's T20 Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan due to a high-grade right hamstring tear sustained during The Hundred. In her place, Pratika Rawal has earned her maiden T20I call-up for the Asia Cup.
Injury Details: Rodrigues picked up the hamstring injury while playing for Southern Brave against Welsh Fire in The Hundred. Medical assessment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence confirmed a high-grade tear. Rawal's Return & Call-Up: Rawal, who recently recovered from an injury that kept her out of the Lord's Test, gets her first T20I call-up. She was selected ahead of Anushka Sharma and Harleen Deol.
Asian Games Replacement: The BCCI is yet to name Rodrigues' replacement for the Asian Games squad. Other Squad Adjustments: Legspinner Prema Rawat retains her spot in the squad in place of the injured Shreyanka Patil (ankle ligament injury).G Kamalini joins as back-up wicketkeeper alongside Richa Ghosh.
India take on Thailand on August 30 in their first game of the Asia Cup. Pakistan and Hong Kong are the other teams in their group. The eight-team tournament starts on August 28, with the final scheduled for September 13. India take on Pakistan on September 5, with all matches to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
