Shaun Tait likely to leave Bangladesh coaching role
Shaun Tait, Bangladesh's pace bowling coach, is unlikely to stay with the team, and his availability for the upcoming home series against Australia is seriously questionable.
A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source confirmed that the former Australia fast bowler has already informed the board of his intentions. It is still unknown if he will show up on time on June 3 to join the training camp before the Australia series, which includes three ODIs and three T20Is. "I am not sure whether he (Tait) will come to join the team ahead of the Australia series or not, considering he is not ready to continue, citing family reasons," a BCB official said on the condition of anonymity.
Tait, whose contract with the BCB runs until the 2027 ODI World Cup, joined the set-up in May 2025 and enjoyed a successful stint with Bangladesh. He has received a lot of credit for helping the young quick Nahid Rana develop into one of the brightest stars of Bangladeshi cricket in recent years because of his express pace.
Australia will tour Bangladesh from June 9 to 21 for a six-match white-ball series. The three ODIs will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on June 9, 11 and 14.
The teams will then travel to Chattogram for a three-match Twenty20 International series that will be played at the Bir Shreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium on June 17, 19, and 21. According to recent reports, Tait has already appeared for an interview and is interested in joining Bengal's coaching staff in India.
