Vihaan Malhotra ton power India to massive win
India defeated Zimbabwe by 204 runs in their Super Six match of the U19 World Cup in Bulawayo, headlined by a brilliant century from Vihaan Malhotra. Before the partnership was broken, India's openers, Aaron George and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, reached 44/0 in the first four overs. Suryavanshi, on the other hand, kept on having fun to score a quick fifty. Zimbabwe then picked up three quick wickets, including that of Suryavanshi, to reduce India to 130/4 but couldn't capitalise from that point.
Malhotra and Abhigyan Kundu worked together to save India with a century stand. While Kundu hit a half-century, Malhotra batted deep into the innings alongside the lower order. He eventually went unbeaten with a score of 109, but it was Khilan Patel's 12-ball 30 that got India past 350 and set a difficult target for Zimbabwe.
Even though Zimbabwe were never really expected to challenge, losing an opener on the second ball only exacerbated the situation. As RS Ambrish and Henil Patel made early inroads, three of the top four failed to reach double digits. Only two other batters reached double digits besides Leeroy Chiwaula, who pitched a strong 50 innings. Before Udhav Mohan's double strike in the 38th over ended Zimbabwe's misery, even captain Ayush Mhatre had a great time with the ball, taking three wickets.
