Yo Mahesh appointed Tamil Nadu head coach
Yo Mahesh, a former seamer for Tamil Nadu, has been hired as the state team's head coach for the 2026-27 domestic campaign. The 38-year-old will take charge of both the red-ball and white-ball teams after overseeing Tamil Nadu's Under-19 teams in the previous season.
Yo Mahesh took over for M Senthilnathan and M Venkataramana during the 2025–26 season, when they split coaching responsibilities.
Tamil Nadu brought in Venkataramana as their white-ball coach after losing the first four rounds of the Ranji Trophy and limited Senthilnathan's role to the Ranji Trophy. The entire Ranji Trophy, the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy, and the 20-over Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy were not won by Tamil Nadu.
The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of the TNCA confirmed Yo Mahesh's appointment on Wednesday. J Hariesh, who is the head coach of Lyca Kovai Kings in the TNPL and assistant batting coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL, will assist Yo Mahesh in the white-ball leg of the domestic season.
In the year 2020, Yo Mahesh had given up all forms of cricket. He took 108 wickets in 50 first-class matches and 93 wickets in List A cricket at an average of 24.67 at the end of his career. He played for Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.
