India's Renuka Singh Out of Australia Test Due to Workload, Kashvee Gautam Steps In
Renuka Singh Thakur has been ruled out of the one-off Test against Australia due to workload management, and Kashvee Gautam has been named as her replacement. The BCCI medical team will closely monitor Renuka's fitness progress. Kashvee, who has played six ODIs for India and taken three wickets, will make her Test debut. India won the T20I series 2-1 but were whitewashed 3-0 in the ODIs.
Apart from Gautam, India's other seam-bowling options are Gaud, Satghare and Amanjot Kaur. None of them have played Tests either.
India's spin attack comprises Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana and Vaishnavi Sharma.
India last played a Test in Australia in 2021, which ended in a draw in Carrara. More recently, in 2023, India hosted Australia in a Test at the Wankhede in Mumbai, and registered their first Test win against Australia.
Kashvee Gautam, set to make her Test debut against Australia, impressed in the recent domestic multi-day tournament. She picked up four wickets from three games, second among seamers only to Sayali Satghare's six wickets. Gautam also shone with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 106 off 86 balls and finishing as the tenth-highest run-getter in the tournament. The Test will be played at the WACA.
