Ireland-India T20Is to start early to avoid Women's World Cup Clash
The two Twenty20 Internationals against India will begin at 1.30 p.m. local time, or 6 p.m. IST, according to Cricket Ireland (CI). Typically, T20 internationals involving India begin at 7 p.m. IST. However, due to the India-Australia Women's World Cup match on Sunday (June 28), the start time has been deliberately moved back an hour. The crucial match between India and Harmanpreet Kaur's team is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. IST at Lord's.
Although there will still be some overlap between the two Spinny Cup matches, the timing changes were clearly made to minimize it at least partially. Cricbuzz was informed by Cricket Ireland that the Women's World Cup match was taken into account when determining India match start times.
It is believed that the Indian media partner Sony Sports and CI, the organizers of the games scheduled for Friday (June 26) and Sunday (June 28), discussed the matter. The broadcaster would prefer a start time of 7 p.m. IST for India's T20Is, but Sony Sports is said to have agreed to the new time to reduce the clash, if only in part.
The start times of the five T20Is in England that come right after the Ireland series are different. The second Twenty20 International in Manchester on July 4 and the fifth in Southampton on July 11 will both begin at 7 p.m. IST. The other three games, in Chester-le-Street, Nottingham, and Bristol, are scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. IST. Three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) will follow the T20I series, with each scheduled to begin at 3.30 p.m. IST.
Both Sony Sports (linear) and JioStar (digital) are India's England series broadcasters.
